Make a C.A.S.E. for yourself

September 27, 2022 ProgressionHR

Ever felt like an imposter in the workplace waiting for a Scooby-Doo style reveal? You’re not alone. In fact, studies show 75% of female executives across different industries feel the same.

But how do you shake it off? With the help of U.S strategist, Mark Pollard, we’re here to help you make a C.A.S.E for yourself and put the imposter back in its place.

How to make a C.A.S.E.

On his Instagram (@Sweathead), Pollard suggests there’s four simple strategies for shutting up your inner saboteur.

C = Competence

You wouldn’t have your job if you weren’t great. It’s easy to forget. So it’s important to remind yourself you didn’t get here by accident. But if you’re still worried, there’s always courses to sharpen your skills.

A = Allies

Remember, you’re not alone – you have your work team to help you. So if you have a problem, reach out and brainstorm solutions together. As the saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved.

S = Self-talk

Give yourself positive affirmations and write down any negative thoughts. Imposter syndrome is habitual, so you have to rewire the way you talk to yourself to break the habit. Remember, you’re awesome.

E = Evidence

Keep a reminder of your wins. It can be as simple as creating a folder of “thank you” emails or printing work you’re really proud of. We do it for kids, so why wouldn’t you do it for yourself?

Next time you’re feeling like a fraud, take a breath and remind yourself why you’re worthy. You’re more than capable and there’s people around you to push you up. All you need to do is make a C.A.S.E. to remember why you’re here.

Now, go smash it.
